Common questions from care partners

Does OT come out of the client’s quarterly budget?

Yes. Occupational therapy is a clinical support under Support at Home, so it draws on the client’s quarterly budget. Clients don’t pay a contribution towards clinical supports.

Can AT-HM funding cover equipment and home modifications?

Yes. The Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme is funded separately from the quarterly budget, at the tier approved in the client’s assessment. Many items need an OT assessment and prescription first, and our report sets out which costs can go to AT-HM.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. For Support at Home clients, the care partner or provider can refer. Clients who self-manage can refer themselves.

How will I be kept updated?

We let the case manager know once a booking is made, and send our report and recommendations after the assessment.
