Meet Georgia: A Calm, Curious OT Supporting the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture

Georgia’s pathway to Occupational Therapy was guided by a simple but powerful motivator: she wanted a career she would genuinely love. Drawn to healthcare and the opportunity to work closely with people, she discovered OT and was instantly hooked by its breadth, its person-centred philosophy, and its ability to support people through small but meaningful changes in everyday life.

“What I love most is how something small—one adjustment, one recommendation—can make such a huge difference to someone’s day-to-day life.”

Today, Georgia brings that thoughtful, grounded approach to her role at Forbes Care, supporting clients across the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture through NDIS, Home Care Packages, and DVA.

From Neurological Rehabilitation to Community OT

Georgia’s professional journey has been as varied as her caseloads. Before joining Forbes Care, she gained experience across paediatrics, community OT, and inpatient stroke and neurological rehabilitation—settings that shaped her broad and flexible clinical foundations.

“Right now, I love being a generalist. It keeps me learning and growing. No two days look the same, and that’s what keeps me engaged.”

With each client, Georgia draws on this diverse background to ensure her approach is holistic, practical, and tailored. Whether it’s working with children, older adults, or individuals navigating complex health needs, she adapts her strategies to meet people where they’re at.

Tools to Support Regulation and Engagement

One of Georgia’s favourite strategies when working with her paediatric clients involves incorporating heavy work activities—pushing, pulling, jumping, lifting, and carrying—to help regulate the nervous system.

“These activities provide deep pressure and proprioceptive input, which can be really calming for kids with sensory processing differences. It’s a simple but powerful tool to help them feel more grounded and engaged.”

Her sessions reflect a balance of clinical insight, creativity, and flexibility, always tailored to the needs of the individual sitting in front of her.

Known for Her Calm, Gentle Presence

Georgia’s strengths don’t go unnoticed by her team. Her supervisor describes her as gentle, adaptable, and deeply committed to building strong, respectful relationships with clients.

“Georgia has a way of making people feel comfortable quickly. She adapts her communication style to suit each client and takes the time to understand what matters to them. She’s also incredibly open to feedback and constantly builds on her clinical knowledge—something that strengthens both her practice and her outcomes.”

A recent standout moment was when Georgia supported a married couple through their Home Care Package assessments. By clearly explaining the session’s purpose upfront, she set expectations, eased anxiety, and created space for meaningful conversation.

“Her communication was clear, respectful, and collaborative. The clients left the session feeling heard and supported—with one even thanking her ‘so so so much.’ It really showed Georgia’s ability to connect with people in a way that leaves a lasting positive impact.”

A Workplace That Fosters Growth

What drew Georgia to Forbes Care wasn’t just the diverse caseload—it was the supportive, growth-focused culture.

“There’s such a strong emphasis here on upskilling and developing as a therapist. I really value that. The diversity of clients challenges me to continually expand my skills, and I love how everyone here genuinely supports each other to do their best work.”

Walking Alongside Clients at Their Pace

Georgia’s approach to therapy is underpinned by curiosity, compassion, and collaboration. She takes the time to understand her clients’ values, interests, and barriers—and works with them to create meaningful, achievable steps forward.

“It’s about meeting people where they are, seeing their strengths, and figuring out together what’s most important to them. From there, we build practical strategies to help them move forward.”

A Thoughtful Clinician with a Passion for People

At Forbes Care, we’re proud to have Georgia on our team. Her calm presence, curiosity, and commitment to lifelong learning make her a valued support not just to her clients, but to her colleagues as well.

Whether she’s supporting families with paediatric assessments, working with older adults to maintain independence, or simply showing up with warmth and professionalism, Georgia is proof that small changes—made thoughtfully—can create meaningful impact.
