For Brittany, choosing Occupational Therapy was about finding a career that combined creativity, connection, and meaningful impact. Drawn to a profession that would allow her to work closely with others while enhancing their well-being, she found her place—and her passion—in OT.

“What I love most about being an OT is the chance to build meaningful relationships with my clients and witness their progress,” Brittany shares.

Today, Brittany brings her vibrant energy, creativity, and client-centred approach to her work across the Sunshine Coast, Hinterlands, and Gympie regions.

Building Foundations Through Fun and Function

Brittany has a particular interest in paediatrics, a field she describes as one of the most rewarding spaces to work in.

“Paediatrics is where you get to have the most fun! Watching a kiddo work towards their goals and grow in confidence is incredibly rewarding for me,” she says.

Her clinical sessions are often filled with playfulness and purposeful engagement. One of her favourite strategies is incorporating a variety of fidget tools—like stress balls, fidget spinners, and pin art—to help promote focus and provide sensory support during therapy.

“These tools aren’t just fun—they’re functional. They create moments of engagement and regulation that allow kids to feel successful during therapy,” Brittany explains.

A Natural at Building Trust and Collaboration

At the heart of Brittany’s approach is a deep commitment to building trusting, supportive relationships with her clients.

“I focus on creating a space where clients feel heard and understood. Therapy needs to be client-led. It’s about their goals, their needs, and their pace,” she says.

By taking the time to truly listen and involve clients in every step of their therapy journey, Brittany ensures that every session feels meaningful and motivating.

Thriving in a Supportive Team Environment

When asked what she enjoys most about working at Forbes Care, Brittany’s answer is simple and heartfelt:

“The team! We have the most supportive and welcoming team, and it makes coming to work every day so enjoyable.”

Her supervisors agree, noting that Brittany’s communication skills, time management, and natural creativity have been standout strengths in her early career. She quickly connects clients’ interests to therapy goals, making each session both engaging and goal-directed.

Growth, Confidence, and Clinical Wins

Brittany’s clinical reasoning and confidence have shone through in her early wins, particularly around complex equipment prescription. Recently, she demonstrated initiative and thoughtful clinical judgment when independently researching and successfully trialling a pressure cushion for a client—an area new to her at the time.

Her proactive approach and strong clinical justifications have also led to successful recommendations for a Vicair cushion and a hi/low bed—important supports that are already making a difference in her clients’ lives.
