Amy is an Occupational Therapist who joined Forbes Care with a strong desire to continue building her clinical knowledge and refining her skills within a supportive, team-based environment.
Through previous employment and university placements, Amy has worked across a range of settings, developing strong rapport-building skills, thoughtful intervention planning, and a collaborative approach to goal setting. These experiences have shaped her client-centred practice and her ability to tailor therapy to each individual’s needs.
“I love that occupational therapy allows me to build meaningful relationships and truly understand each person’s journey.”
Amy is passionate about working alongside people in the community — meeting clients where they are and supporting them to work towards greater independence, confidence, and quality of life. She values taking the time to understand each person’s goals, strengths, and challenges, and empowering clients to make progress in ways that feel achievable and meaningful.
Since joining Forbes Care, Amy has developed an understanding of the different funding bodies and the options available within each system.
Amy values Forbes Care’s organised and comprehensive onboarding program, which supports clinicians to feel confident as they begin practice. She appreciates the organisation’s strong culture of learning and the safe environment it creates for building skills, asking questions, and growing professionally.
A particularly memorable moment in Amy’s OT journey involved supporting a hospital patient who had previously declined allied health input. Before the initial session, Amy carefully problem-solved strategies to encourage engagement and prioritised patient-centred care by setting up the environment to support participation.
By incorporating the patient’s preferences and focusing on building rapport, Amy was able to successfully engage the patient in therapy. Seeing the patient become more involved reinforced the importance of therapeutic relationships and tailoring interventions to what matters most to each individual.
