Meet Abbie: Supporting Confidence and Participation Across the Lifespan

Abbie is an Occupational Therapist whose clinical foundation is grounded in paediatric practice, supporting children and adolescents to build confidence, independence, and participation in everyday life. Her work with neurodivergent children has shaped a thoughtful, strengths-based approach that carries through all areas of her practice.

Abbie has experience supporting clients with sensory processing, emotional regulation, handwriting, and functional skills, and values occupational therapy’s ability to be creative, practical, and deeply person-centred.

“I love how occupational therapy allows you to support people in meaningful ways — helping them feel understood and supported in everyday life.”

Expanding Practice Across the Lifespan

Since joining Forbes Care, Abbie has continued to broaden her clinical practice to support adolescents and adults, building on her strong foundations in activity analysis, environmental setup, and functional skill development.

She is actively upskilling in adult practice, with structured supervision, training, and support from senior clinicians to ensure her work is safe, evidence-informed, and aligned with best practice. Abbie values learning how occupational therapy supports people across the lifespan and across a range of funding streams.

A Moment That Matters

One of Abbie’s most memorable clinical experiences involved supporting a young child who had not yet developed the ability to jump, impacting her confidence when engaging with peers on the playground.

Through targeted work on postural control, careful task analysis, skill practice, and parent education with practical at-home activities, the child developed the skills she needed. Seeing her confidently join her peers on the playground reinforced Abbie’s belief in the power of occupational therapy to support participation and confidence at any age.

Why Abbie Loves Working at Forbes Care

Abbie values Forbes Care’s supportive and structured learning environment, which enables clinicians to grow their skills while delivering high-quality, safe care.

“The support, training, and supervision at Forbes Care create a space where learning and confidence grow together.”
